If your child does not attend either of these days please feel free to pop into nursery on either morning after 9 am for your child to have there photos taken. All siblings are also welcome.  

Sawbridgeworth nurseries trip to the Moon.

All of us in Preschool spent our Friday morning on the moon, we made space hats from paper maché and tin foil for our visit and also learned lots of interesting facts about the moon, so we all knew what to expect when we finally got there. It was really amazing all we could see was stars and we even saw a green alien.

High Wych

March Madness:

 

This month the children at High Wych will be busy creating Mothers Day gifts for the special Mummys in their life. These include card making, baking cakes and Creating salt dough objects and decorating them with feathers, glitter and sparkly pieces.

 

 

 

 

February Fund raising:

 

During February staff children and parents at High Wych have been purchasing tickets to win a cuddly toy. All proceeds are being donated to the Sunny Day’s children’s charity. All donations are warmly welcomed.

 

 

 

Say Cheese!!!!!

 

The children at High Wych have had great fun during last week using the digital camera to capture moments of the nursery day. Look out around the nursery as these will be displayed.

Lots of children have photographed their friends or parts of their friends, the snow and objects that surround them.

It is interesting to see how each child views their day at nursery.

High Wych Messy Monsters

The toddler room have enjoyed getting messy in the past few weeks.

 

The children have enjoyed 3D Art, cake making and shaving foam play.

 

They also got creative with paint, glue and lots of sparkles.

HALLOWEEN AT SAWBRIDGEWORTH

We have had so much spooky fun this week making witchs goo and slime, scary haloween masks, hairy spiders, flying bats, painting our bones, flying witchs, carving scary faces in pumpkins and making haloween biscuits. Also in pre school we have been making up spooky stories and poems. We are all so excited about our party on Friday DONT FORGET TO DRESS UP!

Sports for Charity

The children at High Wych had fun participating in a sports day to help raise funds for Barnardos.

The children dressed up in weird and wacky costumes to race in and then enjoyed a fun party.

We would like to thank all of parents for their kind donations.

Our regertration fee for our after school and holiday club is £25 this will be FREE on the 22nd August.

Sawbridgeworth

We have been so busy here at Sawbridgeworth with the upcoming opening of our new pre-school. The children who are moving over to the new room have been really busy helping to get it all ready. It is looking lovely and they are all so excited about moving in! We are hoping it will be up and running by the end of August.

It was all very exciting last week, a ranger came to visit with some friends. He introduced us to a range of furry and scaly creatures, including Speed the giant land snail, Boris the bearded dragon, Maggie the African hedgehog, Sid the milk snake and a very cute dwarf rabbit. They were all very friendly, the children got to hold and stroke them as the ranger taught them all about the animals. The children loved meeting all the animals even Sid the snake!

High Wych Nursery

HighWych Nurseries Little green fingers.

 

The children have been busy creating a sensory garden. Please feel free to take a look, this can be found by the office door. The children water and observe the change in growth and are excited by the thought of eating what they have grown. The children planted flowers, Herbs, Butternut squash and strawberry plants.

 

 

 

Spring time at the Sawbridgeworth nursery

Our topic for the next few weeks is “Growing”.

We will be finding out what people, animals and plants need to grow and we will be planting lots of seeds and bulbs.  We will also learn about the parts of plants such as petals, stems, and roots.

We will be talking about spring time and the changes around us. We will be looking out for buds and leaves on trees, birds making nests, and hopefully lots of sun!

The worm worls at HighWych Nursery...

The Pre School children have had fun looking for worms to live in their ‘worm world’.

They found mud, leaves and sand to create a home for their 5 worms and had fun naming and taking care of them every day by ensuring that their home is moist and airy. The children have also been studying the patterns that the worms create in their home.

The children in the pre school have just started doing a yoga bugs session every Wednesday, it is so much fun and the children are loving it! We also had a visit from a very cute little hampster on Friday as we were learning about pets. The toodlers have been getting so messy this week as they have been experiencing the joys of gloop!

Happy new year from the Sawbridgeworth nursery

We have made a great start to the new year at the Sawbridgeworth nursery. We all had a great time at our under the sea fun day where we took part in lots of fun themed activities and enjoyed a seafood snack all dressed as sea critters! We are all now looking forward to the many other exciting fun days planned for us over this year, the next one being Friday 13th February when we will be celebrating Valentines Day where we will all be wearing red and joining in with some LOVE-ly activities. Then in March we will be having lots of fun fundraising for Comic relief.

Christmas is coming at High Wych Nursery...

The children will be celebrating this year with a trip to High Wych Church, a Christmas feast, creating their own decorations and performing the story of Christmas.

 

For our play on 22nd December the children have been busy learning songs and making their own props such as crowns, wings and other costumes. We look forward to seeing all our families at the play.

High Wych Pre School Poets

The Pre school children took part in a poetry competition. There was a poem template

 called “my first poem” for the children to fill in. The children loved creating their poem and had a great sense of pride once they were completed. We then sent the entries off to the producers of my first poem who have selected over  20 to be published in the my first poems from Hertfordshire publication. Each poem is personalised and the children received bookmarks, certificates and prizes. This activity has promoted the children’s literacy skills and has given the parents a great keepsake of their child’s imagination.

High Wych's Sports Day

All of our nursery took part in sports day on the 4th of September. the children competed in relay races, Jumped through hoops and whizzed through tunnels. Even our parents got a bit excited and joined in with a race. The children were awarded with certificates and medals and after the races we all enjoyed a well deserved tea party.

High Wych's Mini Hedgehog Road Safety Week

This week our children are learning about road safety.

 

The children have a pretend scene and have been enjoying dressing up as Traffic and Police Officer’s.

 

Some of the children have been racing through red lights in cars, and have had fun learning what the different traffic light colours stand for.

 

The children have been learning the hedgehog road signs, Think, Stop, Look and Listen.

Hawaiian day at Sawbridgeworth nursery

Dear all parents

Just a reminder its our Hawaiian day on Friday 15th August, we will be looking forward to seeing all the children dressed up in their grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts. All day long we will be doing lots of fun things related to Hawaii.

Sawbridgeworth nursery

We have been having great fun this week at nursery, the weather has stayed nice for us and we have been having great fun in the garden. Our tomatoes are growing big as we have been looking after them very well, we even used one on our pizzas we made today. Our radishes are also growing well and we are hoping to use some in our salad we are going to be making next week. Our topic this month is Traditional stories and we have been doing lots and lots of fun activities such as making big, bad wolf masks and acting out our favourite stories.

High Wych's July News...

Baby room

Our baby room has been busy busy busy. A few of our babies have been learning to crawl. The other babies have been practising their singing and action rhymes and we have said goodbye to some of our friends who have moved to the toddler room.

Toddler room

The toddlers have enjoyed a messy week! They have been busy painting and sticking crabs, ice creams, buckets and spades for their theme on holidays. They also enjoyed painting and sticking each other!

Pre School room

The pre school room has also enjoyed a messy week. They have been busy making and eating their home made jelly, creating salt dough hand prints and practicing their writing skills.

 

Watch out cooks about!

All of the children (little chefs) are really enjoying the nursery's summer menus.  They play a huge part in making them as on some days they help the nursery cook to prepare their own lunch and have made home made pizzas, meatballs and burgers.

 

 

Sawbridgeworth nursery have a lunch date with our teddies

We are trying to raise money for Tommy's (the baby charity)   the money raised will fund life-saving research into miscarriages, stillbirth and premature birth.

We will be   holding a lets do lunch with teddies event on Tuesday 22nd July, we are asking all the children to bring in their favourite teddy from home so they can join in our special picnic which will hopefully be held in the garden at 4oclock weather permitting. If your child is not in on this day and you would like them to come and join in the fun please see Steph or Natalie for availabilty on extra sessions.

Our Vegetable patch

Our vegetable garden is doing really well. We have been watering our tomatoes, raddishes and basil every day. We tried some raddish last week and they were very very yummy! Our tomatoes are growing really well now, they are green at the moment but we are hoping they will turn red soon so we can make a lovely salad to eat.

Our Baby and Toddler room are having their parents evening on 15th July at 6-8pm. This gives you an opportunity to discuss your child's progress, development and any other issues you may have.  To arrange an appointment please see your child's key carer, thankyou.

Jolly Green Giants at High Wych

At the end of June we planted some seeds and our children have been busy learning about the growing process of plants and flowers. 

We have been caring for them and have made a height chart to observe their rates of growth.

In a few weeks time we are going to have a sunflower competition to see which one of our children is the 'Green Fingered Gardener' with the tallest sunflower!

Preschool Musical at Sawbridgeworth

Some of our children will be performing in a very special Preschool musical production on Monday 30th June. They will performing all the High school musical songs on their very own stage that has been created by themselves.

Invitations will be given out shortly.

Early Years Professional Status

We are pleased to announce that our General Manager, Emma Beer has just gained the 'Early Years Professional Status'.

The Children's Workforce Development Council says:

"The Government recognises that access to high quality childcare is important for all parents and their children. The move to a graduate-led profession represents a transformation of the early years workforce.

To drive this transformation, the Government have made it clear that their aim is to have an Early Years Professional (EYP) in every full day care setting by 2015 and one in every children's centre by 2010."

We have a New addition to our nursery- Troy the snail

We have been so busy in Pre-school this week, we have found a new freind in our garden and we have called him Troy the snail (the children chose Troy from high school musical) he is very friendly and we can all take it in turns to hold him. We all gathered leaves, soil and sticks to put in his new house so he is very happy.

We are also really excited about our fete on saturday and we hope you can all come.

Ida nurseries Sawbridgeworth open day

We are going to be holding a open day on Saturday 7th of June 2008 at our Sawbridgeworth nursery, hopefully all outdoors, weather permitting. We will be having a bouncy castle, face painting, an arts and craft stall and lots lots more. Everyone is welcome so please feel free to bring along family and friends. Any registrations on this day will be free so spread the word! Also by introducing a friend to the nursery you will receive one free mini break after their registrasion has been prosessed, this is for you to use when you wish as long as we have the space available. So come along and enjoy this fun filled day with us.

Race for life

Big well done to the girls from High Wych and Sawbridgeworth Nursery for completing the race for life on Sunday 18th May.

Annie, Leigh, Claire, Chloe, Kirsty Natalie, Kyleigh, and Jennie all completed the race for life to raise money for Cancer Research at Harlow Town park on Sunday. We are all very proud of them for completing this, make sure you check out our gallery to see all the pictures from the days event.

Dear all our Pre-School Parents

We are having our parents evening on 28th and 29th May between 6pm and 8 pm you will get a chance to have a chat with your child's key carer about your child's development and anything else you wish to discuss, please see your child's key carer for a time available to suit you.

 

The birth of High Wych`s butterflies

Over the past two weeks our Pre School children have been extremely busy caring for our baby caterpillars. The children have enjoyed watching them develop into there cocoons and have waited extremely patiently for them to hatch. At last they are here. Wahoo!!! We plan to release them in the next few days. A big well done to our Pre School children for taking such good care of them.

Summer time

In Pre-school we have been learning about the importance of being safe under the sun, we have been wearing our factor 50 suncream and drinking lots and lots of water. we have also made sure we have been wearing sunhats.

Could you please provide your child with a named sunhat for all these lovely hot days.

Story making

In pre-school this week we have been making up our own stories. We have made our own story books which we are going to be adding to throughout the week, we all   have vivid imaginations and this activity has let us express this. We made our characters from our story out of salt dough today some of them are very funny!

 

In our Baby and Toddler room we have been experimenting with vegetables, we have been printing with them tasting them, putting them into cornflour and also into water its been lots and lots of fun.

Gardening with the pre-school

Starting from this week we are going to be getting very green fingers! Today we have been planting our seeds in our mini green house, we are going to look after them really well so that when they grow a little bit we can put them out into our herb garden, we have already dug a little bed for them out in the garden. We will keep you updated on how they are doing!

Body Painting in our Pre-school

Our topic this term is 'Me, myself and I', this week we have been learning about our bodies. On monday we had a great time body painting, we coverd our creative room floor with paper, covered all different parts of our bodies in bright paint and rolled around on the floor to make different marks. We ended up with a fantastic piece of art which we have displayed on the wall for all our Mummys and Daddys to see, we also have some very funny photos to put in our scrap book!

We had a fantastic Easter party with all our freinds, We also had a Easter egg hunt around our nursery it was so much fun, We also had a little prize for the child who came dressed in the best costume Evie won in our pre-school room and Nicholas won for our under 2's.

St Goerges day

We are celebrating St georges day on the 23rd April. We will all be dressing up as knights, dragons and princesses, we will also be having home made fish and chips for our dinner and making st georges day flags and biscuits.

Essex Dance Theatre:

We are privileged to have Lorraine Hodges A.I.S.T.D coming in to our nursery for a special lesson in music and movement/ Ballet for our Preschool on 26th February at 9:30am. Lorraine teaches for Essex Dance Theatre and has 25 years experience in Tap, Modern, Jazz and Ballet. Extra sessions are available for this day with a 10% discount please see Steph or Natalie for more information. Leaflets regarding Essex Dance Theatre will also be available from nursery.
