Q) How will I know how my child has been at nursery?

 A) We recognise that children's first impressions of the world begin at home and it is therefore vital that both the nursery and parents work together. Parents are encouraged to share their ideas with us to help shape the service we offer to the children.

We value the contributions made by parents and will actively seek a partnership through which the children will benefit by having continuous and consistent care. This is an essential ingredient in supporting their confidence and developing their learning potential. At IDA Nurseries we understand that parents are the first and most enduring carers and educators of their children.

To assist the partnership:

  • Our under 2's take home a happy chart which tells you what and how much your child has eaten throughout the day, the number of ounces of milk they have had, how long they have slept for and generally how they have been throughout the day.
  • The over 2's have a white board on the wall in Pre School which is completed by the staff every morning and afternoon. This tells you what they have been doing, what they have eaten and what our colour number and letter of the week are.
  • Throughout the Nursery when you collect your child their is the opportunity for you to discuss with their key carer or a member of staff in your child's room how they have been throughout the day.
  • We hold Parents evenings twice a year to discuss your child's development and if you would like to discuss any issues in private then a meeting can always be arranged at your convenience.
  • The Nursery also organises annual social events which provide an informal opportunity to interact with our staff and other parents.
  • Regular newsletters and posters are displayed in nursery informing parents of our achievements and forthcoming events.

Q) Are your staff qualified?

A) All of our staff complete a rigorous induction program as well as attending Company training days and continuous in-house training.  At least 70% of our staff have an NVQ level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education.

There are also numerous staff who have gained or are working towards their NVQ level 4 or Foundation Degree and Early Years Professional Status.

In addition, staff members are trained in:

* First aid
* Safeguarding Children
* Health and safety
* Special Educational Needs

Q) My two year old is not potty trained will this cause a problem?

A) No, we will work with you at all times. If you feel your child is not ready to potty train then we will wait until they are ready.

Q) Can I claim Nursery Education Grant for my child?

All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to claim for up to 6 terms of Nursery Eduction Grant before reaching statutory school age (the first term following their 5th birthday).

The grant is available from the start of the term following your child's 3rd birthday and each child is allowed to claim for a maximum of 5 sessions per week.  The grant is paid directly to the Nursery, and your monthly fees will be adjusted to reflect this.  The Nursery Education Grant is available to all, regardless of income or savings.

Q) How can Tax Credits help our family?

We encourage parents/carers to find out about tax credits so that they can seek help to pay their fees.  For more information contact the HM Revenue & Customs Tax Credits Helpline on : 0845 300 3900 or their website: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/

Q) What are childcare vouchers?

A parent can pay a percentage of their monthly childcare costs using vouchers or by direct payment from their employer.

A set amount (determined by the HM Revenue & Customs) of childcare vouchers used for registered or approved childcare is free of both tax and national insurance.

The Nursery is currently registered with a number of childcare voucher providers - some of which include: Care-4, Computercentre, Accor and Sodexo.  However, if your employer is registered with another provider please speak to the Nursery Manager to arrange registration.
